CYENS strengthens core citizen access infrastructure in myHealth@myHands

myHealth@myHands is building a person-centred approach to digital health in Europe, so that citizens can securely access and control their medical records and use them across borders. The project integrates with MyHealth@EU services and is establishing a knowledge hub to share best practices.

CYENS Centre of Excellence is a leading Research & Innovation Centre in Cyprus, specialising in Interactive Media, Smart Systems and Emerging Technologies. In myHealth@myHands, CYENS contributes citizen-centred digital health expertise—combining technology and human-centred design to help make cross-border access to health data secure, usable and meaningful for people.

Citizens in control

A core goal of myHealth@myHands is to empower citizens to access their medical records online and decide who can access their data. By working with services such as MyHealth@EU and the EU Digital Identity Wallet (EUDI Wallet), the project aims to support trustworthy authentication and data access across borders—while keeping the citizen at the centre.

Building the core citizen access infrastructure

CYENS leads the work on the project’s core citizen access infrastructure (WP5), which underpins integrated patient data access for cross-border healthcare. This contribution focuses on the ICT foundations needed to connect to existing infrastructures and enable secure, interoperable access for citizens.

CYENS leads WP5 and contributes the public deliverable “Core Citizen Access Infrastructure” (D5.1).

By bridging interoperability requirements with citizen-centred implementation, CYENS helps ensure that the services myHealth@myHands develops can be adopted and scaled in real-world settings.

“Our primary objective is to ensure that all EU citizens have secure online access to their medical records by 2030.” 

This work supports the project’s long-term vision: giving everyone in the EU secure, user-friendly access to their health data, wherever they receive care.
