Project Background
The myHealth@myHands project will help address the growing need for a unified data ecosystem across the European Union. Currently, accessing medical records and digital health services can be a challenge, especially when travelling between different EU countries. The project aims to help streamline this process by making medical records and health data interoperable and universally accessible by 2030.
A key aspect of myHealth@myHands is to empower citizens with the ability to manage their health data. The project also focuses on making health services more accessible through digital means, allowing for personalised health support and seamless integration with digital health services. This means that individuals will be able to manage who has access to their medical information, ensuring privacy and security.
By leveraging existing infrastructures and integrating with MyHealth@EU services, myHealth@myHands aims to improve the usefulness of data across Europe and make a significant contribution to the data foundation of the European Health Union. A knowledge hub will foster open dialogue with citizens, patients, health professionals, industry representatives, and academia to promote community collaboration and best practices.
myHealth@myHands aims to transform digital health by providing secure, user-friendly access to health data, ensuring that all EU citizens can benefit from a connected and efficient health ecosystem.
Project Impacts
Policy Impacts:
The project will introduce a value model that offers a novel approach to data utilisation based on European values. This model will frame the core data utilisation services as public services of the European Community, setting a precedent for future policies and regulations in the digital health space.
Societal Impacts:
By improving citizen safety, equality, and inclusivity, the project aims to enhance the quality of health services and access to healthcare. The solutions developed will support more citizen-centric services, catering to the needs of a mobile society and ensuring that health services are more responsive and accessible to all.
Economic Impacts:
The project will establish a robust foundation for future-proof health and care services based on EUDI Wallet solutions. By placing individuals at the centre of health and care, it will create a framework for well-planned and sustainable health services, contributing to the economic stability and efficiency of healthcare systems.
Work Packages
WP1 – Project Management and Coordination
This work package oversees the project in terms and is in charge of monitoring and reporting, preparation of technical reports, organisation of meetings, operational management of product launch activities, and financial management.
WP2 – Communication, Dissemination and Engagement
The main objective of this work package is the engagement of users and stakeholders in the project, including the establishment of a knowledge exchange platform, community building, and the setup of a communication strategy. It furthermore aims to create a consistent brand identity and continuously update the public on the project’s activities.
WP3 – Evaluation, Testing and Integration
This work package aims to identify existing standards and technologies, as well as their integration into the MyHealth@EU platform. It furthermore aims to ensure that users’ needs are met by the developed solutions, and develop a testing infrastructure.
WP4 – Sustainable Value-Creating Mechanisms
The aims of this work package include the creation of a citizen-centered data framework that incorporates ethical, legal, and societal factors while promoting sustainable value in a European data-loop. It furthermore aims to enhance health and care by improving user interfaces, backend APIs, and knowledge graphs, and fostering collaboration across government, industry, academia, and citizens to develop personalized, human-centered services.
WP5 – Core Infrastructure
The aim of this work package is to develop a cross-border patient data access solution that involves patients in its design, ensuring seamless collaboration and high-quality data exchange between EU Member States. It furthermore aims to strengthen ICT infrastructure and connectivity to support efficient health data processing and integration across the European health ecosystem.
WP6 – Citizen User Interface
The objectives of this work package include integrating uniform authentication for MyHealth@EU and creating an intuitive UI with the EUDI Wallet, supporting personalized health journeys and secure access to health records. It also aims to develop a guidebook for enhancing user interaction, establish an Innovation Hub for digital health solutions, and build a collaborative environment to ensure compliance with EU standards and improve healthcare experiences.
WP7 – Health Co-Management
This work package aims to develop and pilot scenarios to improve healthcare professionals' collaboration and patient care, while creating tools like Game-Based Learning to empower patients in managing their health. Furthermore, it will evaluate and refine access to digital health services, implementing a person-centered management system tailored to specific conditions like cancer, cardiometabolic, and mental health disorders.
WP8 – Ethics Management
The objective of this work package is to monitor, assess, and ensure compliance with ethical standards throughout the project, addressing personal data protection, AI ethics, and the involvement of vulnerable populations.
Health Promotion Package (“WP99”)
